When in Darwin…

Many of our clients choose to stay in Darwin for a few days either before or after their charter. There is plenty to see and do in and around town and there is always the world heritage listed Kakadu National Park and gorgeous Litchfield National Park for ventures further afield. Just check out some of the links here for some great accommodation, entertainment and tour options to help you plan your trip.

Fishing Equipment

Feel free to bring fishing rods and tackle if you wish, however, we have everything you will need on board (replace if lost basis). For those who just can’t help themselves we have listed all the gear we use to guide you in making any purchases for your trip. Contact us if we can help you further.

Baitcaster

For a great rod/reel combo you can’t beat a Shimano Curado 200BSF on a Morrum or Silstar Barrastik. This is what we use on board and you will find them to be a top little baitcasting outfit. If you want to spend a little more then there are many fantastic rods on the market and of course the magnificent Calcutta series of baitcasting reels from Shimano.

Bottom/Reef Gear

We use Penn 320GT reels matched with Penn Powerstick rods. This is a tough combo which holds plenty of line and can also double as a gamefishing rod if you have nothing else.

Gamefishing Gear

Penn Internationals, Shimano TLD’s and Tiagra’s make up the majority of reels we use for our gamefishing. We match these to a variety of quality 24 and 10kg rods.

Threadline Outfits

For high speed retrieves when chasing some pelagics such as tuna we use Shimano baitrunner and Penn spinfisher reels on Penn and Ugly Stick rods.

Lures

You can spend $10 or $1000 – it’s up to you. However, here’s a short list of some of our favourite lures we would use on a standard expedition.

  • Rob Gaden’s Classic Barra & F18's
  • DK River Rats & Ferrets
  • Nilsmaster Invincibles
  • Tilsan Barra Baits
  • Rapala Barra Magnum
  • Chrome slices
  • Maribu jigs
  • Rattlin’ spots
  • Halco Tremblers
  • Lively Lures Poppers & Mad Mullets
